HD-18 - Free fall lifeboat davit

The system will allow:

1. Free fall launch of the fully loaded lifeboat, including the launch with a list/trim 20º/10º, completely independent of any power supply;
2. Controlled launch of the fully load lifeboat, with the ships EL;
3. Recovery of the boat including crew of 3 persons (Recovery of the fully loaded boat is possible);

Embarkation position of crew is on deck level (aft boarding platform).
The davit system is based on a hydraulic driven jib cylinder system (2 cylinders) and a hydraulic driven lifeboat winch. Both the winch and the cylinders are supplied with hydraulic energy from one common power unit.
 
This is simple, safe and reliabile system form the point of view of operation activity. The system is oil filled and totally enclosed, corrosion and wear is reduced to an absolute minimum. The safety valve will protect the hydraulic system and components on the davit in case of wrong exploitation. The winches are fitted with hydraulic operated, fail-safe, multidisc brakes. The brake will be automatically applied if the hydraulic pressure  is lost and cease the relevant motion. 

The equipment ensures the lowest possible emission of sound and good access for service and repair. The davit is equipped with both keel lashing and aft deck lashing. 

Conforms to IMO/SOLAS requirements, LSA Code and European Council Directive 2014/90/EU on Marine Equipment (MED).
