Pains wessex manoverboard MK9 compact light and smoke signal produces dense orange smoke for 15 minutes to indicate the position of a man overboard. It has a self-activated LED lighting system, far exceeding SOLAS requirements for a minimum of 2 candela light output and at least 2 hours duration. Normally, lifebuoy markers are mounted on a ship's bridge wing attached to a 4 kg lifebuoy. It can be either automatically or manually activated to mark the position of a person in the water by day or night. Ships are required to fit at least two markers. It can be used in temperatures of water, ranging from +1 °C (33.8 °F) to +30 °C (86.0 °F).
The lifebuoy marker is intended only for emergency use at sea, never dismantle or use it after expiry date. Keep away from children and sources of heat. Never activate it in a confined space and do not inhale the smoke.
