Red Handflare Mk8

Red hand-held, short range distress signal Pains Wessex Red Handflare Mk8 is used to pinpoint location by day or night. It produces hot red flame for a minimum of 60 seconds at no less than 15000 candela. Performs reliably even after immersion in water. Features a unique telescopic handle with improved grip, making it very compact and space saving when stowed in a liferaft. It is easily extended and pull wire operated.

The Handflare MK8 conforms to SOLAS 74 as amended. It is designed to withstand exceptional environmental exposure and to perform reliably even after immersion in water. It may be carried on ships bridge. In addition, six handflares are required to be fitted in ships lifeboats and liferafts. The handflare is suitable for use on other commercial and recreational boats. It can be used in temperatures from -30 °C (-22 °F) to +65 °C (149.0 °F).

The red handflare is intended only for emergency use at sea, never dimantle or use it after expiry date. Keep away from children and sources of heat.

How to use:

1. Pull out red end until telescopic tube is fully extended and engaged;
2. Unscrew red end cap and point away;
3. Pull ball out sharply to fire;
4. Hold at arms length. Point Downwind. End plug ejects after 2 seconds delay;
